Next month, my nephew is getting married. He and his bride are fans of all things steampunk. Now this is a style which I was only vaguely familiar with, but now quite know a lot about. I had heaps of fun putting together a design for their card and I do hope they like it. I also hope they don’t visit my blog as I would hate to spoil the surprise.

Here is the card:

The card started with the use of a retired SU die, the pop up dress form. I followed a tutorial by Karen Burniston to use the die to make a double width dress form.

The elements in this card are largely no longer available but I did use the Geared Up Garage Stamps and Dies liberally and some retired DSP called Well Worn. Other elements include a beer can, cut up, textured and heat embossed with various metallics to create the bride’s dress; tulle; gold coloured pearls, and the groom’s family tartan for his kilt.

I decorated the front of the card using a number of elements including diecuts, DSP, corrogation, copper brads and the retired SU Birds and Blooms Dies, lots of tearing and sponging, and, again, Geared Up Garage stamps and Dies. The heart is from the retired Sunshine Wishes Dies and the larger butterfly was punched using the Butterfly Duet punch. I largely cased the design of the front of the card from a swap I received from Linda Tan at Onstage in Auckland earlier this year. Thanks so much for the inspiration, Linda!

And Lastly, the envelope, made with the Envelope Punch Board and stamped in Soft Suede with many assorted stamps, a bit more of the beer can and a piece of shrapnel I picked up from a car yard’s waste.
