Last weekend I held a card day to introduce local members of a group called The Compassionate Friends (TCF) to papercrafting with Stampin’ Up! There were 4 ladies who were new to card making and to Stampin’ Up! as well as a couple of seasoned cardmakers.
TCF is a worldwide family of bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents offering support and friendship to each other. It began in the UK in 1969 and the ACT and Queanbeyan chapter has been operating since 1991. Its symbol is a butterfly.

I created 2 cards for the class. The first used the Butterfly Gala Bundle, which I thought was very appropriate for the group. The second was a floral birthday card, using the Beautiful Day stamp set, which I thought would have wide appeal.
Below is a photo of the cards made on the day. It was very interesting that, although everyone had the same pieces of cardstock, ink and stamps, there were many variations of the original cards. The ladies enjoyed the day and I will hold more days in the future.
Supplies Used:
Stamp sets: Butterfly Gala, Beautiful Day
Colours: White, Black, Grapefruit Grove, Rich Razzleberry, Crushed Curry
DSP : Botanical Butterfly (free during SaleABration)
Tools: Swirls & Curls TIEF, Butterfly Duet Punch
Embellishments: Organdy Ribbon (free during SaleABration) , clear Rhinestones.
Thanks for sharing your Saturday with me. I hope you liked my cards. If you live in the Canberra region and you’d like to share a card day with some friends, click on the Contact Me button at the very top of this page and I’ll organise to bring a class/party to you. Have a great weekend and come back soon.
Wecome back to my blog and thanks for dropping by.
I held my Open House to launch the 2019 Occasions and Sale-A-Bration Catalogues on 12 January. I had six ladies attend and I think they enjoyed themselves. It was a welcome distraction from the 36deg heat outside. We had a game, a tour of the new catalogues, food and bubbles and make n takes, display boards and I hope some fun. There was lots of laughter anyway.
Above are some of the products I used to create the card. If you live in Australia and don’t have a demonstrator, I would love to be your demonstrator. If you click on the product code above you will go straight to my 24/7 secure online store and add it to your cart. And remember to use the January host code to go in to my monthly draw.
Also, Sale-A-Bration is the best time to join the Stampin’ Up! family. There is an additional $80 worth of products you can choose for your kit and an optional extra Craft and Carry Tote at less that half the retail value. See details in the image below. Contact me if you’d like to join my team or find out more.

I’m really happy with the splash of colour in this card. I have been creating samples for the launch of the Occasions Catalogue on 3 January and wanted to do a bright card using the fabulous Brusho Crystals to get an intense colour (I think I succeeded!) and the Butterfly Gala Bundle (stamp set and duet punch.
I used all colours of Brushos in the Stampin’ Up collection except the green as I wanted a brighter green so I mixed blue and yellow and I think I achieved Granny Smith Green. The Brusho was applied to Shimmery White Card although it is hard to see in this pic.
The Butterflies were coloured with an aquapen and inks:
Blueberry Bushell, Granny Smith Green, Mango Melody and Lovely Lipstick.
I created the rectangular frame using the Stitched Rectangle Framelits which are also new in the Occasions Catalogue. They have stitching on BOTH cut edges although it is hard to see here.
The greeting is in the Butterfly set and has been embossed in White.
Colours are Highland Heather, Black and Whisper White. Can you see that I have used a different butterfly and a different greeting from the set? I’m not sure what style you would call this one, but I like it. I used Highland Heather and an aquapen to get the colour under the greeting. I rather like that effect. Hope you like this simple card. It came together in a flash.
Can you count the number of new products used on this card? Lots!!!
Colours are Grapefruit Grove, Whisper White and Basic Black. I have also used the luscious Pinewood Planks 3D Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
So have you found all the new stuff? Firstly the Stamp Set, called Butterfly Gala. It is a new 18 piece photopolymer set which allows for 2 step stamping and will be found in the 2019 Occasions Catalogue. There are 4 pairs of butterfly designs and several greetings, including the one used here and it has a coordinating punch, the Butterfly Duet Punch. These will be available as a bundle which forms part of the Gingham Gala Suite, and includes co-ordinating Gingham DSP, sequins and White Flax ribbon.
The butterflies have been stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black and coloured in Grapefruit Grove, the same colour as the Organdy Ribbon. This is a SaleABration offering for 2019 and includes 5 colours of ribbon.
And, last but not least, the Rectangle Stitched Framelits Dies. These were used to create the Black frame. I love them already. Maybe you can’t see in the photo but there is stitching on both the inside and outside edge. The frame was created with 2 nesting dies.
I finished the card by adding a rhinestone and Wink of Stella to the butterflies.
So, that’s 4 new products coming in January.
I hope you like the card. Thanks for looking. I’d love to know what you think!
