I recently had a play date with my friend Vicki and we decided to try a new technique I had found on youtube, by Mitosu Craft (a couple of SU demos in the UK). Click here to see their tutorial. It uses Silver Foil, reinkers, a little water and clear embossing powder.

We pretty much copied their project but the technique gives variable results as you will see in the pic below of Vicki’s card. The colours we both used were Night of Navy and Lemon Lime Twist and you can clearly see these in Vicki’s card but in mine, they combined to create Tranquil Tide, but I did get some lovely texture! So I added a Tranquil Tide diecut Happy (Merry Christmas Dies) and Tranquil Tide Ribbon and some Mint Macaron sequins. I created the Very Vanilla frame and the inset using the Rectangle Stitched Dies and the frame is raised with Dimensionals.

Vicki’s card has a Basic Black Happy diecut  and Lemon Lime Twist Ribbon around a Very Vanilla frame.  Both cards above were created from the centre of a panel we each created. We also made cards from the “frame” around this portion.

Here is mine.  I ran it through the big shot with the Tin Tile Dynamic Texture Embossing Folder, sponged on some Tranquil Tide ink and and placed a panel of Very Vanilla card, stamped with the Bokeh Dots Stamp set in Tranquil Tide, in the centre of the frame.  I added some Mint Macaron sequins and Mint Macaron glimmery ribbon.

Vicki made another card which had more Night of Navy tones in the foil so she dressed it up with silver foil and Navy Corduroy Ribbon.

We had lots of fun creating these cards and getting our fingers stained. They would make great cards for the men in your lives. While many of the products used are now retired, the foil, Rectangle Stitched dies, Merry Christmas Dies and Tin Tile Dynamic Embossing Folder are still available and can be purchased through my online store here.

Thanks for stopping by……………………………….til next time
