I recently participated in a virtual event for SU demonstrators in my region which was a follow up from a “real” event last year.

The event was generously and expertly organised by a SU Demonstrator who lives in the Southern Highlands, Michele Jutrisa, and aims to bring Demos together to share ideas and learn from each other..

This year she organised it with a number of challenges in a private facebook group and she included our regional Demonstrator Development Manager, Clare Langsford.

Michele did such a great job organising the day. I watched with my downline besty Vicki and we had so much fun. We weren’t able to complete everything but WE HAD SO MUCH FUN!!!! Thanks Michele

Challenge 1

A tic tac toe, nine boxes of options and you chose three in a line. Mine was Embossing Folder, Designer Series Paper and Diecut.

I chose to use the Artistry Blooms DSP, the  Stitched So Sweetly Dies and the Pinewood Planks Embossing Folder. I took the colours from the DSP, using Granny Apple Green, Whisper White and Coastal Cabana.  The Greeting is from the Fancy Phrases stamp set

Although I am happy with the colours and layout for the card, it needs something else in the diecut, maybe some small diecuts? What do you think?

Demonstration By Leonie Newman

Leonie Newman, a Demonstrator from Kiama, NSW did a live demonstration showing how to make a small cube card which folds flat to send in a C6 envelope. It was Leonie’s first live and she did a fabulous job. Thanks Leonie.

I chose to use the retired Peaceful Poppies DSP with Rich Razzleberry boxes and Basic Black mats. The greetings are from the Fancy Phrases stamp set and were stamped on Whisper White rectangles in Memento ink.

Challenge 2

Make anything in black and white.

I chose to use the Well Dressed stamp set from Sale-A-Bration 2020. I randomly stamped images in Memento ink on Whisper White card. One hat has been stamped seperately and popped up on a dimensional. The Black band across the card has been embossed with the Woodland Embossing Folder and the greeting was punched out using the Lovely Labels Pick a Punch.

Challenge 3 – Sketch Challenge

I chose to use a Cherry Cobbler Card Base and a Blushing Bride layer embossed with the Parisian Flourish 3D Embossing Folder. I stamped the image in Memento onto Whisper White card and coloured with one of the new aquapens (so good!) using Petal Pink, Cherry Cobbler and Mossy Meadow inks. The greeting is from the Woven Heirlooms stamp set stamped in Memento onto a 2″ punched circle of Whisper White, sponged with Cherry Cobbler. I finished off with a couple of Basic Rhinestones, coloured with Cherry Cobbler Blends.

I was very happy with the card, except for the fact that I originally thought I had Petal Pink cardstock (not Blushing Bride!), which is why I coloured the blossoms in Petal Pink ink. Not the end of the world but I think it would have been nicer with Petal Pink card.

Mystery card – Triple Slider

The next event in the day was a mystery card. Michele gave us a list of supplies we would need and measurements for cutting. It turned out to be a Triple Slider Card.

I used the retired Happy Birthday To You Stamp Set from Sale-A-Bration 2020. I used Seaside Spray Cardstock for the “cards” and Night of Navy Cardstock for the panels. The DSP is the retired 2019-20 In Color Assortment (Seaside Spray). I used the Stitched So Sweetly Dies for the label and the Peaceful Moments stamp set for the greeting which was stamped in Night of Navy ink onto Whisper White Card, as were the top image and the greeting on the middle panel. The image on the middle section was stamped in Seaside Spray and coloured with an aquapen and Seaside Spray, Night of Navy and Soft Seafoam ink. I also added lashings of Wink of Stella but this can’t be seen in the photo. Lastly, I added some Seaside Spray Metallic ribbon.

This card would be very appropriate for a special occasion. It is not difficult to make. Michele had some technical problems and kindly refilmed the whole video. She did a wonderful job.

As you can see, we had a very enjoyable day. There were 2 more challenges which we didn’t get to. I might try and do this at a later date.
